At SportStop.com, lacrosse is about more than what happens on the field. The sport teaches discipline, teamwork, perseverance, leadership, and the value of showing up consistently—lessons that can continue to shape athletes long after their playing days.
We are proud to recognize Morgan Pavolony as the winner of the SportStop.com $1,000 Scholarship.
Morgan's journey reflects the values we believe make the lacrosse community special. From learning the game as a freshman in high school to balancing academics, athletics, community involvement, and now graduate studies, Morgan has continued to carry the lessons learned through lacrosse into every stage of life.
From Newcomer to Lacrosse Player
Morgan began playing lacrosse during freshman year of high school and continued through senior year, completing four years with the sport.
Primarily playing midfield while stepping into attack when needed, Morgan competed for the high school team and participated in both spring and fall ball to stay involved throughout the year. There were also opportunities to fill in for travel teams.
The decision to try lacrosse started with a friend who had already been playing for several years.
When Morgan entered high school, the opportunity arose to join a team, learn the fundamentals, and experience the welcoming environment that can make lacrosse so meaningful for new players.
"A lot of our team had never played before, so feeling valued as a newcomer was inspiring to continue my lacrosse journey and be able to teach others along the way."

The Power of Consistency
When asked what lacrosse taught her most about herself, Morgan's answer was simple: consistency.
That lesson extended far beyond attending practice.
Consistency meant committing to strategy, learning plays, listening to coaches, supporting teammates, maintaining a positive attitude, and treating everyone on the team fairly.
Those habits have stayed with Morgan well beyond high school athletics and continue to influence her approach to education, career development, and community involvement.
Learning to See the Bigger Picture
One of Morgan's favorite lacrosse memories might not be the first thing most athletes would expect: watching game film.
Film sessions gave the team an opportunity to study what happened on the field from a different perspective, identify opportunities for improvement, and solve problems together.
Rather than trying to correct mistakes during the emotion of a competitive game, film created an environment where teammates could communicate, learn, and grow together.
That experience also reinforced a lesson that remains highly relevant today: sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to change your perspective.
Balancing Academics and Athletics
Morgan also understands the discipline required to balance demanding academics with athletics and other responsibilities.
While taking higher-level courses, keeping up with lacrosse required dedication, planning, and sacrifice. That sometimes meant passing on parties, staying out late, or putting assignments off until the last minute.
Looking back, Morgan wouldn't change those decisions.
"I do not regret those decisions one bit. I am proud of the career I had with lacrosse, and I am proud of my career and habits I have built as a student."
Those habits are now supporting Morgan's next academic goal: earning a Master's in Business Administration.
Morgan chose to pursue an MBA to strengthen leadership, strategic decision-making, and problem-solving skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how organizations operate. The goal is to build the knowledge and confidence necessary to take on greater responsibilities and continue advancing professionally.
A Coach Who Made a Lasting Impact
Every athlete can usually point to someone who helped them see more potential in themselves, and for Morgan, that person was Coach Pam.
Introduced during Morgan's sophomore year, Coach Pam brought more than a decade of playing experience along with a coaching style centered around pushing athletes to reach their potential.
Morgan remembers her knowledge, strategies, passion, and willingness to stand up for her players.
That relationship extended well beyond Morgan's final season. The two still remain in contact today.
Carrying the Lacrosse Community Forward
One of the most meaningful parts of Morgan's lacrosse experience was the sense of community created among players and coaches.
That appreciation for community continues today.
After becoming a homeowner in a new city, Morgan made a conscious decision to become involved in the surrounding community and find new ways to contribute. That has included working closely with recovery advocates and foundations as well as volunteering at downtown 5Ks and seasonal events.
"I think it is important to find a sense of belonging in every season of life."
It's a philosophy that reflects one of the best parts of athletics—the relationships and values developed through sports can continue creating an impact long after the final whistle.
What the SportStop.com $1,000 Scholarship Means
For Morgan, receiving the SportStop.com Scholarship represents much more than financial assistance.
It represents confirmation that consistency pays off.
Morgan has been responsible for educational expenses throughout her academic career and credits scholarship opportunities with helping make continued higher education possible.
"This means that being consistent is rewarding. I have been responsible for all of my finances throughout my educational career, and I do not believe it would be possible to continue with higher education if it was not for scholarships like this one. It provides me with hope that I will be able to complete school and not be in financial debt."
SportStop.com is proud to help support Morgan as the next chapter of that educational journey continues.

Morgan's Advice: Take the Chance
Morgan's advice to other athletes, students, and anyone considering a new opportunity is something worth remembering:
Take chances and believe in yourself.
Morgan experienced that firsthand when considering coaching a fall ball league for the first time. Despite feeling nervous and unsure about being ready, taking the opportunity ultimately became another chance to learn and grow.
"You never know where that one action will take you. Enjoy the journey!"
Congratulations to Morgan Pavolony, winner of the SportStop.com $1,000 Scholarship. We are proud to recognize Morgan's commitment to education, community, leadership, and the values learned through the game of lacrosse.
From everyone at SportStop.com, congratulations, Morgan—and best of luck as you continue your MBA and the next chapter of your journey.
