Lacrosse Gear Maintenance: How to Keep Your Equipment Game-Ready All Season

Lacrosse Gear Maintenance: How to Keep Your Equipment Game-Ready All Season

Taking care of your lacrosse gear might not be the most exciting part of the game, but it’s one of the most important. A few minutes of maintenance can make a big difference, not just in how long your gear lasts, but in how you play. Whether you're new to the sport or have a few seasons under your belt, here's a breakdown of how to keep your equipment in top shape all season long.

Lacrosse Helmets

Your helmet’s job is to protect your head, so it’s worth giving it a little attention. For girls' lacrosse helmets and and men’s lacrosse helmets, make sure to:

  • Wipe it down after each use. A simple cloth or wipe can clear off sweat and dirt.

  • Let it air out, Don’t leave it stuffed in your bag.

  • Check the straps and padding now and then. If anything’s loose or wearing down, fix it or replace it.

Keeping it clean helps with comfort, too. No one likes a helmet that smells like last week's game.

Lacrosse Sticks

A solid lacrosse stick is key to your performance. If you’re using one of our men’s complete lacrosse sticks, here’s what to do:

  • Look over the mesh and sidewalls. If strings are fraying or too loose, it’s time for a quick re-string.

  • Make sure the head is on tight. Loose screws or a wobbly head can throw off your game.

  • Avoid leaving your stick in the car. Heat and cold can mess with the plastic and your pocket.

Even a few minutes of regular stick maintenance can keep it feeling just right every time you step on the field.

Lacrosse Cleats

Your lacrosse cleats take a beating, especially in wet or muddy conditions. To keep them in good shape:

  • Knock off the mud and dirt after each game.

  • Let them dry out, don’t toss them in the dryer or leave them in your trunk.

  • Check the grip. If the studs are worn down, it might be time for a new pair.

A little care helps your cleats last longer and keeps your footing solid.

Lacrosse Pads & Gloves

Pads and protective gear can get pretty gross if you don’t take care of them. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Wipe them down with a damp cloth after use.

  • Let them dry completely, don’t leave them zipped up in your bag.

  • Give gloves a deeper clean every now and then. You can even run some gear through the wash on gentle (always check the label first).

Regular cleaning keeps them from smelling like a locker room and helps them stay comfortable and protective.
