Not too bad

by From ATLANTA, GEORGIA
So this is an OK protector. It sits high up, meaning that you can't break your collarbone (I've seen it happen). However, there is a lack of padding on the sides and bottom. When you stretch for high shots, you leave the lower part of your stomach exposed, and (from experience) getting hit there HURTS! There may be a sizing issue, as I am 5'7, 103 lbs, and the medium doesn't fit very well.
Pros:
The flexibility. I am a body save goalie, and even when dropping for the lowest of shots, the padding moves with me. I like how the padding warps around me, and the foam-gel stuff really does do a good job absorbing shots. The lack of shoulder caps means that it fits well under jerseys and pinnies.
Cons:
REALLY stiff at first. I'm not a big person, but when my (much larger) backup goalie tried it on, they had to tighten the straps almost all the way. That might be my issue, but the team ordered a medium. The stomach area is not very well protected, and the pads sit high. I was at warm-ups,and was hit in the side. No big deal, right? I ended up with bruised ribs and sternum, and had to sit out a few games.
THE FINAL VERDICT:
If most of your saves are off the body, I DO NOT reccomend these pads. But, for the price, they aren't bad at all.
