STX Shield

by - verified purchaser From BRIARCLIFF, NY
So I bought this after about 6 years with an STX Goalmaster (it was REALLY time for an upgrade). I was going to get the Eclipse, but I heard it breaks quite easily. I haven't played with this head yet, but have taken some warm-ups and played plenty of wall ball. And I LOVE this head. When strung up right, it throws beautifully, and can withstand a beating for sure. So if you're considering buying this head vs. an Eclipse or a Nemi (which I was breaking in at the same time as my Shield, and I personally though the Shield gave a better release), I highly recommend getting the Shield. It might be pricey, but it is totally worth it.
Pros:
Stiffness, overall shape and design, release point, customization options (many colors to choose from and plenty of stringing holes, so you can make this head your own).
Cons:
I think that STX did a great job with this head. The stringing holes are a bit big (be careful with stringing), but otherwise nothing to complain about.

smooth

by - verified purchaser From SUMMERVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA
Lots of holes so for someone who hasn't done a lot of goalie stringing it can get a bit over whelming. The head is pretty heavy especially since my last head was the voyd lyte. This seams to help more then hurt though. With the weight distributed the way it is and the hand grip it makes the top end speed potential ridiculous. Last I used the lyte for 3-4 years but towards the end any shot that hit the top of my head would make it flex and allow the goal. No way the hardest shot will make that happen to this head. Just Bought one and already looking at getting a back up just cause there so sweet.
Pros:
Weight, Hand grip, C Chanel, Stiffness
Cons:
New goalie head and technology out of stx more often.
