Manufacturer Description

The Spyne series of heads use a high performance super stiff, proprietary polymer blend called "TEK9".

This state of the art, high performance blend is more resistant to heat and less likely to breakdown and become soft while you are playing. They are 25% stiffer than normal heads.

Official Spyne jewel logo molded directly into the throat shows your head is ultra stiff and puts regular lacrosse heads to shame.

All Spyne series heads come with a 6 month, limited warranty, against manufacturing defects.

Meets NCAA 2010 specs and NFHS specs, so it will be legal for all levels of play!

Not good

Things I Liked:

Almost everything...but breaks easily

Things to Improve:

Breakability..... My son caught a ball off his backyard rebounder, the ball hit the apex of the head and cracked. It was not a hard throw.

Full Review:

Do not buy!!!! I have heard on other forums that this head breaks too frequently for misuse or overuse reasons. The manufacturer needs to pick a better material

I have not yet had any problems with this head. I went to the Naval Academy this summer and played with it. I have landed thousands of hard checks and nothing has happened. Maybe the ones people got that broke were from a bad set.

Looses stiffness

Things I Liked:

Good before you throw hard checks

Make it more durable to last through a lacrosse game. My head lost all of its stiffness after the first game I played in.

Full Review:

Needs to be more durable

Things I Liked:

Ive been using this head for a year now and i put my sticks through a beating. This is my 3rd one now, they break after about a season or a bit less but as long as you have a warranty your all set. Very stiff, throws well and catches well once you get used to it. Probably more of an advanced head

Things to Improve:

Color, slightly more durable

Full Review:

You cant expect a lacrosse head to not break but this one does last a good amount.

Greg - Trumbull, CT - 6/27/2010

alex - new york - 6/21/2012

Summer "Hot Weather" Head

Things I Liked:

It's what I wanted it to be, a head for 80+ degree games that doesn't turn to mush in the heat.

Things to Improve:

Should have been marketed as "heat resistant" not "stiff". The problem is not the head, it's what people thought it would be due to the marketing...

Full Review:

If you understand what weather does to plastic, you will understand that cold weather will make this MORE brittle, but if you play in summer leagues and your "gamer" turns into a puddle of plastic on ground balls, this is the head for you.

Mox - Hopedale, MA - 6/28/2012

Spyne

Things I Liked:

Price...

Things to Improve:

Needs more pinch and needs to be a little stiffer every time I go for a ground ball I'm scared I'll break the head in 2

Full Review:

I just strung a pita pocket on mine and it throws on a dime.

Garrett Knowles - Grand Blanc, MI - 6/29/2012

Spyne X TEK9 - Versatile Head

Things I Liked:

Stiffness, Top String Holes, "Spyne" Jewel.

Things to Improve:

Broaden the first few holes on the sidewall.

Full Review:

Initially, the stiffness was fun fun fun for hurtful checks, but after boiling, pinching and dyeing it (so much for heat resistant) it's become more of a great flexible FOGO head while the stiffness still holds well enough for slap checks. Great hold, got a nice high channel in it and it's been great having it for myself and the different styles on our team.
