Velcro / elastic fasteners are too short

Great arm pads, but the elastic bands that hold them on are too short. My son is 7.5, normal build, and 70lbs,well under the 90 lbs maximum that the manufacturer states. I must attach the velcro fasteners at their maximum so they are not painfully tight. I am hoping the elastic will stretch a bit otherwise he will only get one year out of these.
