Greg The Lax Bro - Baltimore, Maryland - 2/27/2011

great head on both sides of the field

Things I Liked:

stiffness durability more sidewall holes open sidewalls scoop wide catching area

Things to Improve:

nothing

Full Review:

this is a great head for middies and d guys. it can even be used on attack if you dont mind the stiffness. it is hard to get used to if you have always played with non ncaa heads. strings easily and creates a great pocket.

Great head, nice stringing by Sportstop

Things I Liked:

Nice head with excellent stringing of hard mesh by Sportstop

Things to Improve:

It is a minor annoyance that STX heads have different mounting screw placement that most others. I guess they want you to buy their sticks...

Full Review:

Matched this with the Adistrike titanium stick (was a deal of the week) and they make a nice combo for under 90 bucks. I am a fan of STX and this doesn't disappoint...

Good D

Things I Liked:

It strong and doesnt brake easy.

Things to Improve:

Nothing

Full Review:

I've used this head for 2 almost 3 seasons. I play D. I haven't broke it yet and I throw strong as hard as i can. NOT BROKEN.

Mike - STL - 5/25/2011

The strongest there is

Things I Liked:

Virtually indestructible...gives and takes a beating without any sign of failing anytime soon. The prestrung pocket is good quality and traditional in color - despite what your "lax bros" might say, lacrosse isn't about style, but more about lifestyle.

Things to Improve:

Nothing, nada, zilch.

Full Review:

Love this head...the price point, specs (hs and ncaa) and durability make this a winner for me.

STX Proton U

Things I Liked:

Stiff head; good for poke checks and generally annoying attackmen and midi's. Stringing options; this head has a ton of holes, compared to what I had before, for just about any pocket you want to string up.

Things to Improve:

Some of the stringing holes are smaller than those on other STX heads. Could be pinched a little more for a little better ball handling.

Full Review:

Got this over the winter and paired it up with a Brine Swizzle Scandium long pole. Strung it up myself and the rest is history. So far it's held up very well and there's minimal signs of wear on the head. Excellent STX product.

Proton U - Great Defense Head

Things I Liked:

Price Stiffness Stringing holes

Things to Improve:

Durability

Full Review:

This head is a good deal for the price. It's great for picking off passes and throwing hard checks. If you want something more pinched, definitely find a different head, but I was able to string it up with some pretty good hold and good channel. I only got to use it for one season, because the sidewall snapped clean through down by the shaft on a slap check on our second to last game. Overall a great head for the price. I'd guess it's probably not great for A/M but on a pole, it works pretty well.

M - Tacoma, Washington - 5/17/2012

STX Proton U

Things I Liked:

Great face shape for defense, Good stiffness, Very sturdy, easy to string

Things to Improve:

nothing really, maybe make the sidewall holes at the top a tad bigger, just because i like triangle top strings

Full Review:

This head in a beast for defense. The scoop is solid, so you can really throw pokes. The head is incredibly stiff and sturdy, so i can throw slaps and lifts without being afrad of it breaking. the face shape is great for ground balls and snagging passes out of the air. I personally like this head better than the x10 because its a lot sturdier and stiffer, as well as cheaper.

Jackson - Columbia, MO - 8/20/2012

Proton U

Things I Liked:

Stiffness Durability Wide Great GBs Sturdy Feel

Things to Improve:

Stringing can be a pain at first, it makes a strange pocket if you don't get the right pattern down. Once I figured out a solid pattern it was great though.

Full Review:

This head has been my primary offseason head for summer and fall ball so far, and I love the thing. Easy to snag passes out of the air with, the gb's are a cinch, and offensive players cringe with a solid poke or cuff slap. I love the thing

Chris - Middletown, DE - 11/3/2012

Good for D, not for LSM

Things I Liked:

Great for ground balls, stiff and incredibly strong, if you string it well it throws great

Things to Improve:

Pinch the pocket a tad because at times it's hard to hold on to the ball (especially if you play LSM like i do)

Full Review:

This is a great defensive head. It is incredibly durable (the only head i haven't broken so far. it's lasted me almost 2 seasons)and hurts like a b**** to get hit with. If you play LSM though, this thing is insanely hard to shoot with...it is in no way shape or form accurate and most of my shots go wide. If you're looking for a good LSM head, get a STX Super Power.

Matt - Los Angeles, CA - 3/29/2013

Great Head

Things I Liked:

Stiffness, wide faceshape, easy groundballs, stringing holes, price

Things to Improve:

i bought a black one and it has warped once on a hot day so do not get the darker color ones.

Full Review:

great head for defense, it has lasted me 5 seasons. good for the price

Its very stiff and a fantastic head for a defensive person

Things to Improve:

NOTHING

Full Review:

I LOVE IT

Bjpattelaxer - Buffalo, NY - 11/23/2013

Best defensive head out there

Things I Liked:

This head has to be one of the best heads out there with the defensive player in mind. I have used the x10 for a season and played with the hammer but they just don't compare. Both the x10 and the Hammer warp pretty easily and they aren't as stiff right out of the box. Great for ground balls.

Things to Improve:

The head his a little wide if you want to play LSM. For close defense it's great, just like all the other defense heads out there. If you want to use it for kind pole middie or crease attack, you should pinch the inner wall, that's what I did. It helps te stringing too.

Full Review:

Over all, this is one of the best heads OVERALL for its price. Definitely worth the 5 stars.
