When i first started out, i wasn't that quick with my stick so i had to rely on the pads to take the shot as long as i stepped to to the ball. I NEVER GOT HURT i never yelled OW like the other goalie with a more expensive pad, i never tensed up anywhere the pad covers, nothing.

im a beginner goalie and i actually dont like this pad much... it doesnt provide as much protection as u need. i took a shot right to the stomuch and i lost my breath and got a huge welt after the game there.
