Gait Recon XLU lacrosse head was flexible right out of the box! Customer Service helped me decide which stringing was best for my 10-year face-off specialist son. Thank you!

Recon XLU

by From LOWELL, MI
I play midfield at an elite level, both travel and for school. I take face offs and but extreme duress on my heads and break them quite often. The reason I bought this head honestly was because I was broke. Contrary to other reviews i believe the head comes out of the box perfect for faceoffs. It has a flex similar if not identical to the CEO. I highly recommend this head for the price range, oh and it won't break.
Pros:
-durability
-flex points
-price
Cons:
Needs less top stringing holes

First purchase of a Gait Head... NICE!

by From MILTON, GA
As a first time GAIT equipment owner I was real impressed with this XLU head. After working the pocket a good bit, the heads catches, cradles and throws real well. Not too narrow of a throat. Head well designed for shooting/feeding. Easy to catch with.
Pros:
The "Description of Features" is right on point in regard to :
Long narrow channel for increased speed and accuracy
Designed for attackmen and midfielders with mid/high pocket types

Bought with traditional stringing option. Not sure if string job was done by the factory or SportStop but I was real pleased with the way it was done (all white on white head... classic!!!).
Cons:
Nothing glaring.
Just getting to use the head so we'll see how it and the stringing job holds up.
Few opinions... Did find that the head a little more flexible than expected. Not flimsy but if you’re a defensive middie or d-pole, you'll really want a stiffer head. Also the scoop is more designed more for feeding and shooting than cleaning up ground balls.

Gait Recon XLU Lacrosse heaf

by From HARTFORD, VERMONT
The Gait Recon XLU is an awesome head. You don't need to pay $100 to get a good head. Many of the Gait lax products are very high quality but are often priced well below market value. The Gait Recon XLU is one of these great products for the best price at Shortstop. My order from Sportstop arrived in two shipping days with no extra cost.
Pros:
Quality products, impressive inventory with awesome customer service.
Cons:
None

Recon XLU

by From SOUTH CAROLINA
Solid offensive head. Used it for under a month and it to me has the perfect blend of flexibility and stiffness. I am still breaking it in for faceoffs but even when it has a slight bend from faceoffs, it still throws straight (if you have a decent channel). It's accurate, light, and well priced. I love it for middie and attack. Will buy more of these no problem.
Pros:
Everything It's a solid, and VERY underrated head.
Cons:
Quicker break in time for face offs.

For a x spec head the face shape is amazing. It has just the right amount of flex for faceoffs but not so much an attack man could not use it. Great flex for shooting, amazing head! Do not recommend for d.
Pros:
Flexibility/stiffness Faceshape Pinching and popping Ground balls
Cons:
Stringing holes
